What is naturopathic medicine?
Naturopathic medicine is a whole-person approach to healthcare that emphasizes the body's ability to heal itself and focuses on treating the root causes of illness rather than just the symptoms. It is guided by six principles: the healing power of nature, identify and treat the cause, first do no harm, doctor as teacher, treat the whole person, and prevention.
Are you a real doctor?
I am a naturopathic doctor (ND). NDs complete a four-year accredited naturopathic medical program after a bachelor's degree, with training in the biomedical sciences, physical exam, diagnosis, nutrition, botanical medicine and more. I am not a medical doctor (MD), and I work alongside your child's pediatrician rather than replacing them.
What ages do you see?
Children from birth through 18. Although my focus is pediatrics, I see the whole family as part of a child's care.
Where do visits happen?
In your home across Erie, Lafayette, Louisville, Broomfield, Longmont, Westminster and Thornton, or by video. I do not have a clinic waiting room, on purpose.
How do I make an appointment?
Start with a free 15-minute meet and greet: request one through the contact page or call (303) 720-6015. After that, we schedule your child's first visit at a time that works for your family.
How long are visits?
A new patient visit is about 90 minutes. Follow-ups are about 50 minutes. Sick visits and lab reviews vary with what is needed.
Do you accept insurance?
No. I do not contract with insurance. I accept HSA and FSA for payment, and I can provide a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement, which depends on your plan.
Do you replace our pediatrician?
No. I work alongside your pediatrician and specialists. I will tell you plainly when something needs a prescription, imaging or a specialist, and with your permission I share what I find with the rest of your child's care team.
Do you prescribe medication?
No. I do not prescribe pharmaceutical medication. When a child needs one, that comes from your pediatrician or urgent care, and I will say so.
What conditions do you help with?
The five I see most are constipation and digestive concerns, eczema and skin concerns, immune concerns and frequent illness, developmental concerns such as autism, ADHD, speech and sensory issues, and nutrition and nutrient deficiencies. If your child's concern is not on that list, ask.
Do you do sick visits?
Yes, at home or by video. I will also tell you clearly when a child needs urgent care or the emergency room instead.
Do you offer weekend appointments?
Yes, for an additional $50, which is taken as a deposit when you book.
